About The Akashi Leadership Initiative

The Akashi Leadership Initiative is a registered not-for-profit organisation whose goal is to advance individual development and societal progress. We aim to achieve this by investing in Leadership and Reflective series where individuals meet, share their thoughts on variety of subjects, find some points of reflection in their lives, have experience of leadership, and leave with resolutions to do good, to be good, live the good life, and most importantly, contribute to building a good society.

Vision

To be a center for the development of the inner potentials of members through purposeful leadership and a sense of purpose

Mission

To promote personal leadership and the building of good society

The Idea

The Akashi Series (comprised of the Akashi Leadership Initiative, the Akashi Initiative, the Akashi Leadership Series and the Akashi Reflective Series) is about finding the meaning and purpose of life, reflecting on the importance of community, purpose, and being. It encourages the free spirit that we should all have.

In trying to upgrade the essence and meaning of life through informal discussions, and case studies around a circular form where everyone checks in, shares their thoughts on a subject and finds some points of reflection in their lives, there is a check-out with a resolution to do good, to be good, live the good life and most importantly, live the ethos of kindness, humility, the warmth of making others happy, finding happiness in the things that we do, being respectful, and finding a sense of purpose in life.

Above all, The Akashi Series is meant to lead individuals to the good life, create a good society and ultimately invoke charitable deeds that help others as well as broaden the oasis of kindness amid a world plagued with challenges.

Setting

The Akashi series evolved from quiet evenings of ‘easy listenings’ over drinks, and subsequently finding meaning in the communion, and of different stages of our lives.

As we find it useful to help one another, you would come out from this Series uplifted to where the collective benefit of others would have put you. Mutual respect is one of the ethe of the Akashi series, that there is no greater purpose in life than to be there for others and to selflessly give to them, that the more you can create joy in others, the more your inner joy multiplies for the time being that you are here on planet earth. Now the format of this Series.

The Format

The Series takes an informal format in a closed circle or sitting arrangement where members are free to discuss in no particular form, their thoughts on a piece of work, be it a story, case, an article, a piece a drama, performance, or some recent happenings in an atmosphere devoid of fear of sounding foolish or being ridiculed.

It welcomes a broad array of audiences comprising diverse individualistic and collective thinking whilst using the Socratic and Aristotelian method. However, an elite discussant, the Moderator of the session, guides the discussion and shares the referred readings for future purposes.

Membership in the Series is conditional on the participant attending the prescribed number of sessions and committing to a charitable purpose or project of choice. Upon the fulfillment of this condition, the participant becomes eligible to be admitted as a member of the Series and subsequently as a Fellow upon fulfilling the requirements stipulated by the Governing Council of the Initiative.

The Akashi Series is about the philosophies of life, being, work, family, friends, and ultimately our journey in life.
