Our membership is open to a broad range of individuals from different walks of life irrespective of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, comprising diverse individualistic collective thinking

Membership in The Akashi Leadership Initiative is by invitation and Nomination only. We want to make sure you join an Initiative that best fits your passion and perspective.

Criteria to evaluate the suitability of participants

The following criteria will be considered in evaluating the suitability of a participant by the Governing Council:

  • Participants in the programmes of the Initiative must be between the ages of 20 and 70 years.
  • Applicants must be good-standing members of society.


In addition, the following criteria will be used to evaluate prospective participants (not in order of importance):

  • A commitment to public or community service, volunteerism, or mentorship;
  • Leadership Potential;
  • Compatibility with the objectives of the Initiative;
  • The ability to work cooperatively in diverse groups and to respect the opinions of others;
  • Strong social and communication skills;
  • An energetic, positive attitude;
  • Genuine interest in contributing to society through enlightened leadership.

Requirement for admission into the various classes of membership

There are 3 classes of membership of the Initiative, Individual Membership, Corporate Membership and Fellowship.

  • Completion of the two parts of the programmes of the Initiative with at least 80% attendance of all sessions.
  • Participation in Four group projects as the Governing Council may from time to time determine.
  • Payment of annual Membership dues
  • A demonstrated commitment to public or community service, volunteerism, or mentorship.
  • A demonstrated commitment to fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibility.
  • Payment of annual Corporate Membership dues
  • Completion of the two parts of the programmes of the Initiative.
  • Commitment to a personal charitable project.
  • Payment of annual Membership dues
  • A demonstrated commitment to public or community service, volunteerism, or mentorship.
